Our assessments, curriculum and end of term reports
All our courses at LSTC follow a curriculum set out and created by our coaching team. The curriculum is designed to ensure that over the course of a term, the players get an opportunity to learn and practice all main elements of the game.
Alongside the curriculum, all mini (red, orange & green) groups undertake our mid-term tennis skills assessments. The scores achieved in these assessments allow the players to score progress points and online badges. Parents are then emailed periodically over the term with updates about their child's progress. You can check this by going logging into your DRH Account and going to the DRH Tennis Pro section.
Towards the end of the term, each player on our programme will receive an End Of Term Report, will have been submitted by the group coach. The report will provide an overview of how the player has progressed along with a comment directly from the coach. Once the report has been submitted, an email will be sent to notify you along with instructions about how to view the report and download a certificate.
Tennis is an open skill, and therefore the ingredients to improving can be different for each player. Athleticism, attitude and technical skills all come together to make competent tennis players.
Being on our group coaching programme is a great start. These sessions will provide the foundation of your tennis game and will allow you to learn and develop with consistency. However, many players will want to push to develop even more. In these cases, it's best to look at volume and type first. Initially, look to increase the volume of tennis coaching within the player's week to more than once. A second coaching group or an additional 1to1 class would speed up development exponentially.
Our tennis coaches at LSTC are all highly trained in order to best help a player develop. Whilst there's no substitude for what playing in a group environment provides, a 1to1 class allows the coach to work on the technical needs of the player.
1to1 lessons are booked directly with the coach at a time that suits both yours and the coach's availability.

Playing matches is a key component to developing certain aspects of the game. Playing matches also provides meaning to why many players start learning tennis in the first place. At MKTC we want to allow anyone who wants to compete, the opportunity to do so. Please see the information on competing below.
To enter a competition you or your child will need an ITF World Tennis Number, which you can get by signing them up to Advantage as either a Play, Play+ or Compete member.
The LTA (Lawn Tennis Association), which is the governing body have a library of information about competing. Please see the following links:
Over the upcoming months, Milton Keynes Tennis Club will be running various competitions. The tennis development road map isn't always clear and straight forward. Becoming proficient at the sport can take time, efforts and exposure to all the difrerent areas of practice. We completely understand that players and parents may have questions about their's or their child's development, progress or are keen to know what else they can do to progress faster. That's why we are always here to answer any questions you might have. Just speak with your session coach or get in touch by going to our Contact Us page
