Thank you for booking a DRH Sports tennis coaching class at Milton Keynes Tennis Cub (or local venue). We're so excited that you've decided to play tennis with us! Please take a look at the information shown below about how our coaching courses work.
The Tennis Club:
Milton Keynes Tennis Club is a 6 floodlight court outdoor tennis club with a strong membership and coaching programme, situated on the grounds of Woughton Playing Fields. To locate the club, park in the first car park on your left as soon you enter the sports grounds.
Communication:
Players and parents are encouraged to speak with the session coach if they have any questions about the class or their (or their child's) tennis development. However players and parents can contact DRH Sports at any time using the Contact Us form. Players and parents will also recieve emails from us from time to time with important information relating to their booking and tennis development.
Whatsapp Groups:
Each of the classes at MKTC have a corresponding WhatsApp group. The coaches and DRH Sports use these groups to inform parents about any upcoming events or changes relating to the classes or the wider programme. Please add yourself to the whatsapp group for the course you have booked using the following link
We strongly recommend being a part of the whatsapp group, this is where the coaching team will post updates for any relevant and important information about the class.
Please click here to familiarise yourself with the rules we have set out to ensure these WhatsApp groups are used for their intended purpose. The WhatsApp groups are used solely for communicating tennis club/coaching club matters and are not used by coaches, players or parents for any other reason.
Tennis Club Membership: (All Players MUST be a member before joining our tennis programme)
All courses with the exception of Mini Tots require tennis club membership. Please click HERE to join via the tennis club's website. If you are new to our tennis coaching programme at MKTC then you'll need to join.

Rackets:
All players need to bring their own tennis racket to sessions unless it is your first time. For more information on finding a suitable racket just speak to your group coach who will be happy to advise.
Medical Equipment:
If you or your child has a medical condition which requires equipment such as inhalers then we ask that they are brought to each class. Failure to bring medical equipment to the class may result in you or your child not being able to participate.
What to Wear:
Players should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for exercising, and wear comfortable trainers, ideally ones specific to tennis, no heelys, flip-flops or sandals. Long hair should be tied back.
Please note, we do not hold spare clothing at the tennis club.
Drop offs and picks ups: The following applies to parents of children booked on to coaching groups only.
Drop offs - Please make sure that you accompany your child to the court or area that the class is taking place and make sure that the coach is present and acknowledges taking your child into their care.
Pick ups - We can only allow a child to leave our care when we see their parent or guardian so please make sure that you come into the tennis club or venue to meet them and the coach.
Please note: Parents of children within our Tots and Mini Red groups are required to stay on site throughout the duration of the class.
Tennis club etiquette and safety:
At Milton Keynes Tennis Club there are two entrances, one at either end of the court. This means you have to walk across one court to get to another which creates a risk of games and matches being interrupted by people walking at the back of the courts. There’s even the potential of people being hit by tennis balls.
Milton Keynes Tennis Club asks that all players and parents stop and wait for play to finish and for acknowledgement by those playing before walking behind the tennis courts.
There are DRH Codes of Conducts available on the website. Please familiarise yourself with these which can be found HERE
The weather and cancellations:
For the Spring Term 2026, our Mini Tots and Red Club classes are held indoors at local venues. Please check your booking confirmation to see your courses venue. All other courses are held outdoors at Milton Keynes Tennis Club.
We always try our best to run all classes regardless of the weather conditions, however there may be times when the weather conditions mean that it's unsuitable or unsafe to run the class. If this is the case, we may need to cancel the class.
If there is a cancellation you will be notified no less than 15 minutes before the lesson via WhatsApp. Any lesson that is cancelled by us can be made up by the participant by attending any of our other classes that run that term.
If we are more than 15 minutes into the lesson and the weather becomes unsuitable, the session is deemed to have started and no makeup session will be provided.
In some cases, we may arrange a make up class for cancelled classes. These classes will be made up at a time that is suitable for the coach.
What to do if you can't attend a class:
If you are unable to attend the class and you want to make up the session you will need to contact the admin team on 07901903520 BEFORE the session is missed. Classes can be made up at a later stage in the term provided you let the admin team know prior to the missed class and that there is available space in the class you intend to join. Missed classes must be made up within the intended term and cannot be carried over to future terms or be held in credit for other participants, camps or courses.
Moving up to the next level:
We endeavour to progress each player in our programme at the right stage for them. If this means that they need to be moved up mid term, then we'll do this. As a general rule of thumb, our goal is to get all CLUB group players to a stage where they can rally not only with a coach, but with another player of the same age from the back of the court. Once this is achieved, then we'll look to move the player up to the next level and will recommend competition play.
There is no substitute for regular play. The best way to improve and progress is to play more often. Those who attend multiple coaching classes and have 1to1 lessons will improve the fastest. If you're interested in attending more than one coaching class per week, starting 1to1 lessons or have any questions about your or your child's development then please speak with your group class coach.
Individual lessons:
Our DRH Sports tennis coaches offer 1to1 lessons for all those who want to take their development to the next level. Whilst the groups classes are essential for learning not only the basics in technique and tactics, every player is different, and therefore will have different requirements. 1to1 lessons give our team the opportunity to work more closely with players and give them bespoke advice and instruction that will enable their game to improve more quickly.
We recommend that all players look at getting some 1to1 lessons at some point in their tennis journey so if this is something that interests you, please speak with your session coach or use the ‘Contact Us’ form on the DRH Sports website.
Feedback:
At DRH Sports we rely on feedback from players and parents in order for us to grow and improve. If you have comments about any part of the DRH Sports tennis coaching experience then please let us know via the ‘Contact Us’ form on the DRH Sports website.
If you love what we do, why not write a testimonial! Our testimonials go up on our website and helps others feel confident in joining us.
