Before you arrive
Camp GO! takes place at Oakgrove Secondary School, Venturer Gate, Milton Keynes, MK10 9JQ. Use the designated school car park. The Camp GO entrance is the door leading to the community hall, to the left of the school's main entrance. Registration is immediately inside.
Please bring
- Packed lunch and snacks
- Refillable water bottle
- Sports clothing and trainers
- Sun hat and labelled suncream, applied before arrival
- Waterproof/light jacket
- Spare clothes for younger children
The external door is opened and staffed during designated drop-off and collection periods. Drop-off and collection use the same registration point.
Our youngest campers
For Camp GO purposes, our Early Years children are those who have not yet reached school Year 1.
They can attend a full day, although children new to camp are encouraged to consider a half day initially so they can become familiar with the environment.
Younger campers receive shorter and more varied activities, additional breaks, simpler instructions and quieter activities where appropriate.
If a younger child is nervous or missing home, staff provide reassurance, patience and support to help them settle and engage at their own pace.
SEND & additional needs
Please disclose SEND, additional needs and required adjustments during online registration. The Camp Manager reviews the information and, where useful, we will contact you before attendance.
Reasonable adjustments can include adapted activities, clearer or visual instructions, quieter spaces, transition support and adjusted group arrangements.
Drop-off & collection
Children are signed in using our digital register. Tell the team about anything relevant that day, including medication, illness, injury, emotional concerns or collection changes.
Children are only released to an authorised collector. Changes can be made by adding the appropriate contact to your child's online profile. We do not use collection passwords.
Children aged 11 or over may arrive or leave independently only where parental permission has been given.
If an expected child has not arrived within 30 minutes of camp starting, we contact the parent/carer.
Late collection
Please contact us if delayed. Current charges are £10 where collection is more than 10 minutes late while Late Stay is operating, and £20 per 15 minutes where Late Stay is unavailable or has ended.
Medical needs, medication & first aid
Keep your child's medical information up to date and tell us about changes.
- Medication must be pre-agreed, in original packaging and handed to staff at drop-off.
- Parental consent is required where Camp GO staff administer medication.
- Medication is administered by an appropriately qualified first aider under our procedure.
- Children requiring essential medication such as an inhaler or adrenaline auto-injector cannot attend without it.
Parents are informed about accidents either immediately or at collection depending on severity. If a child becomes too unwell to continue, we may ask for them to be collected.
Food, drinks & allergies
Children bring their own packed lunch, snacks and refillable water bottle. Camp GO does not provide food or snacks; drinking water is available for refills.
For severe allergies, parents must provide the relevant allergy action plan. Emergency medication is held by the Camp Manager in the camp backpack, which remains with the activities.
Weather & sun protection
Apply suncream before arrival and send your child's own clearly labelled suncream. Camp GO staff do not apply suncream, so children need to be able to reapply it themselves.
We have indoor provision for wet weather and very hot conditions, allowing activities to be moved or adapted. Camp would normally only close because of exceptional circumstances affecting the school/site; parents would be contacted directly.
Behaviour & well-being
Our approach is positive, calm and age-appropriate. We set clear expectations, encourage good choices and respond proportionately.
Bullying is not tolerated. Parents are involved if behaviour becomes unmanageable, dangerous or seriously affects others. Abusive behaviour towards staff or children may result in a child being asked not to return; severe physical aggression may require immediate removal.
For younger children and children with additional needs, staff consider whether behaviour may be communicating tiredness, anxiety, overwhelm or another unmet need.
Toileting
Children are expected to be toilet independent; we do not currently accept children requiring nappies or pull-ups.
Accidents are handled sensitively. Children change independently where possible, and parents of younger children should send spare clothing. If adult assistance is genuinely required, staff follow our intimate-care and safeguarding procedure.
Safeguarding & child welfare
A Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is identified from the staff rota each day. If you have a safeguarding concern, speak to the DSL on duty or email [email protected]. If your concern relates to the DSL or Camp Manager, email the same address marked for the attention of Dominic Ross-Hurst.
Emergencies
Staff follow Oakgrove's emergency procedures. The Camp GO fire assembly point is the car park. Children remain supervised and are accounted for using registers and headcounts. If the site had to close or children needed collecting early, parents/carers would be contacted directly.
Photography, phones & devices
Parents give or refuse photography/video consent during online registration. With consent, authorised images may be used on the DRH Sports/Camp GO website, Facebook, Instagram and email marketing.
Children's mobile phones must remain away during camp. Staff do not use personal phones or personal cameras to photograph children.

Frequently asked questions
What if my child is nervous?
Tell us at drop-off. Coaches will help them settle and join an appropriate activity. For younger children, a half day can be a useful introduction.
Can my child be grouped with a friend?
Tell us at drop-off. We will try where practical while still grouping safely by age, numbers and activity.
Can I collect early?
Yes. Tell us in advance where possible so we can have your child ready and record collection correctly.
What happens if it rains?
Oakgrove has indoor provision, so activities can be moved or adapted.
Can my child bring a phone?
We recommend leaving phones at home. If an older child needs one, it must remain away during camp.
What if my child has additional needs?
Provide full details during online registration. The Camp Manager reviews the information and may contact you before camp to discuss reasonable adjustments and whether we can safely meet your child's needs.
Questions, concerns or complaints
For questions or concerns, speak to the Camp Manager or email [email protected]. Formal complaints should also be sent there. Written complaints are responded to within 28 days and should be raised within seven days of the incident wherever possible. If a childcare concern remains unresolved, parents can contact Ofsted.
